Dartmouth College – Fuel and Oil Facility :::
Description of Project:
Dartmouth College replaced existing diesel fuel oil bunkers in 1996 with a new facility that includes two new 125,000 gallon tanks for the Central Utility plant. The plant provides high and low pressure steam for distribution to building heating systems across the campus using multiple high pressure steam boilers. The plant also co-generates electric power which results in energy savings for the college. In addition to the new tanks, the Oil facility includes new pumps, heat exchangers, a containment bunker with leak detection and drain isolation, offload and on-load stations, and remote monitoring and control from the central plant control room.
Scope:
Construction Management, Control System Design, Turnkey Installation. Software Engineering, Application engineering, Control Panel Design and Fabrication, Calibration and Commissioning, Controls Maintenance.

Nashua School District :::
Description of Project:
The facilities under control include the (2) new High Schools (one of which is under construction and ½ occupied), one Middle School, and four Elementary schools. The high schools represent nearly 800,000 SF out of about 1,200,000 SF of controlled space. They are both heated and cooled using a central plant with hot and chilled water. The HVAC systems in the high schools include a total of 66 Air Handling Units, 720 VAV boxes, 4 chillers, 6 boilers, and many other pieces of equipment. The schools were designed to be highly energy efficient, and include extensive use of air-to-air heat exchangers. Particular focus was placed on indoor air quality. The AHU’s were also provided with sophisticated air flow sensors which allow superior outside air modulation and CO2 demand controlled ventilation.
Scope:
Budgeting, Construction Management, Turnkey Installation. Software Engineering, Application Engineering, Calibration and Commissioning, Controls Maintenance.

QA Technology Company, Inc. :::
Description of Project:
QA Tech is a manufacturer of test pins for the electronic circuit board industry. The facility is 88,000 SF mixture of manufacturing and office space (about 75% and 25% respectively). The HVAC system is unique in that the primary cooling is accomplished using a chilled ceiling. The facility was designed to utilize the absolute least amount of energy possible, and at the lowest energy rate possible. To provide the chilled water for the ceiling, and to provide dehumidification, an ice-making chiller was selected along with an ice storage system. The chiller was designed to handle about 65% of the facilities’ full load requirements. Therefore, the ice storage is crucial, and is used during the day for peak load reduction and capacity control.
The system was designed with a 100% outside air AHU. This AHU provides both ventilation air, and dehumidification for the facility. The Dewpoint in the facility is carefully controlled below the chilled ceiling chilled water temperature (typically 57 degrees).
Scope:
Design support, selection, and implementation of the Chilled Ceiling system. CTI also provided the chilled ceiling panels, fittings, and accessories along with the registers and diffusers plus the Control System installation, design and commissioning.
