CTI Recognized by Efficiency Vermont for Making Buildings More Energy Efficient

Control Technologies has again been recognized by Efficiency Vermont; this time for their contribution toward the Advanced Buildings Core Performance® Achievement in the Middlebury South Village Professional Office Building. Some of the energy efficient strategies that were prominent in the final design were a well-insulated building envelope, extensive lighting controls and efficient lighting. Control Technologies tied the energy-efficient split-systems and energy recovery ventilation to a building energy monitoring system to help manage and improve the building’s energy profile.  An air sealing test was conducted and the building achieved blower door test results that match the best values that have been recorded to date in Efficiency Vermont’s Commercial New Construction program. Through incorporation of these items, the Middlebury South Professional Office Building is estimating an energy savings of over eleven thousand dollars in one year.

Developed by the New Buildings Institute, Core Performance is a nation-wide program for new commercial buildings, which has been tailored for use in Vermont with support from Efficiency Vermont. This program is recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council and can be used as a different path for gaining LEED energy points. Buildings that achieve the Core Performance label show lower operating costs and can have increased property values. Developing leadership in building responsibility while creating a better working environment are other values obtained through the Core Performance program.
